Luego de integrar distintos grupos juveniles en su provincia, viajó a Buenos Aires en donde se radicó a partir de 1978.Įn 1978 tuvo lugar su incorporación al grupo del charanguista Jaime Torres, con quien compartió durante diez años giras por Argentina, América, Europa y Asia, grabando además una nutrida discografía.Įn 1988, inicia su carrera como músico solista de la quena, comienza la grabación de su primer CD “Casabindo”.Įn ese mismo año recibe una invitación del compositor Ariel Ramírez, para incorporarse a sus espectáculos “Misa Criolla” y “Misa por la Paz y la Justicia”. In 1988, Raúl Olarte formed folk group “Cuarteto de los Andes” (Quartet of the Andes) and was invited by Argentine pianist and composer Ariel Ramírez to perform his signature composition “Misa Criolla” (Creole Mass) and “Misa por la Paz y la Justici a (Mass for Peace and Justice) in prestigious concert halls like Carnegie Hall (New York), Santa Cecilia (Rome), Benianei Ha Uma (Jerusalem), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Suntory Hall (Tokyo) and Teatro Colón (Argentina), among others. Together they performed in Argentina, South America, Europe and Asia and recorded several albums in the span of 10 years.
